1. Who we are & what this covers

HOVERBALL is a free online multiplayer game operated by Volter (“HOVERBALL”, “we”, “us”, “our”).

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you create an account and play HOVERBALL through our Unreal Engine game client, this website, and related online services, and how we use and protect it. By using HOVERBALL you agree to this policy and to our Terms of Service.

2. The data we collect — and nothing more

We deliberately keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the game. We collect only the following:

Account & authentication data

Your email address, your username / display name, and the credentials required to sign you in. Passwords are never stored in plain text — only as salted, hashed values. If you sign in or download through a third-party platform (for example Steam or Epic Games), we receive only the account identifier that platform shares with us to log you in.

Gameplay data

Information generated by playing while signed in — match results, scores, statistics, rankings, matchmaking data, and similar in-game activity tied to your account.

Performance & technical telemetry

Crash reports and diagnostics, frame-rate and performance metrics, hardware and operating-system information, network/latency and session data, your IP address, and the game build/version. This is what keeps the game stable, secure, and the servers healthy.

We do not collect anything beyond what is described above. We do not sell or rent your personal data, we do not use it for third-party advertising, and we do not track you across other websites or apps.

3. How we use your data

  • To operate and provide the game — signing you in and maintaining your account;
  • To run matchmaking and host multiplayer sessions;
  • To measure and improve performance, diagnose crashes, and fix bugs;
  • To protect the service — security, anti-cheat, and fraud/abuse prevention, and to enforce our Terms of Service;
  • To communicate with you about your account or essential service matters, and to respond when you contact support.

We process this data because it is necessary to deliver a service you requested, to keep that service secure, and in our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the game.

4. How we share data

We share personal data only with:

  • Infrastructure & service providers that run HOVERBALL on our behalf — principally Amazon Web Services, including AWS GameLift, for hosting, compute, storage, and content delivery — under agreements that limit them to processing data for us.
  • Platform / store services you choose to sign in or download through (for example Steam or Epic Games), limited to what that sign-in requires.
  • Legal and safety requirements — where we are required to comply with applicable law or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our players, the public, or HOVERBALL.

We never sell or rent your personal data.

5. Where your data is processed

HOVERBALL runs on cloud infrastructure that may process and store data in the United States and in other regions. Where personal data is transferred across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) as required by applicable law.

6. Data retention

We keep account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the game. Telemetry and diagnostic data are generally retained only as long as they remain useful for stability and security. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period — except where we must keep limited records to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our Terms.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data — encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), hashed credentials, and access controls that restrict who can reach it. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to address any incidents promptly.

8. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live — for example the EEA/UK under the GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA — you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. You can exercise these rights, or simply ask us to delete your account and associated data, by emailing support@volter.ai. We will respond as required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

California residents: we do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.

9. Children’s privacy

HOVERBALL is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact support@volter.ai and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and for material changes we will provide a more prominent notice. Continuing to use HOVERBALL after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.

11. Contact us

Questions or requests about this policy or your data: support@volter.ai.

HOVERBALL is provided free of charge and “as is.” Your use of the game is also governed by our Terms of Service, which set out the warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability.
